CO-CREATING CLINICAL SPARKS IN SUPERVISION

Supervisors can utilize experiential and authentic learning tools to expand the traditional didactic framework of supervision. Dr. Mullen will introduce, define, and demonstrate numerous tools and techniques, from a wide variety of theoretical perspectives that can all be used to expand traditional supervision. Supervisors or supervisors-in-training, will learn the what and how of feedback to promote clinical and professional growth in their supervisees. Through instructive examples, participants will 1) understand the rationale for the inclusion of experiential tools and techniques within supervision, 2) learn supervisory interventions that strengthen and expand the processes of supervision, the clinical practice, and the personal growth of the supervisee, 3) identify what style of feedback should be used when so that the potential for supervisee growth is optimized.
Dr. Jodi Ann Mullen, PhD LMHC NCC RPT-S CCPT-Master is a professor at SUNY Oswego in the Counseling & Psychological Services Department, where she has been a counselor educator for nearly 30 years. She is the Director of Integrative Counseling Services, with offices in Central New York. Dr. Mullen is an international speaker, author, credentialed play therapist and play therapy supervisor. Dr. Mullen provides training, consultation, and supervision to professional helpers all over the world. She has authored books on play therapy, counseling children and adolescents, grief counseling and parenting. Dr. Mullen was the 2008 recipient of the Key Award for Professional Training & Education through the Association for Play Therapy. She is the proud Momma of Leah & Andrew.
