“A New Perspective on OCD”

Feature Presentation

Behavioral models of treatment such as exposure and response prevention (ERP) have been the primary evidence-based treatments for OCD since the 1960s. Meta-analyses consistently demonstrate that approximately 65% of sufferers will have some reduction in symptoms from behavioral treatments and only 50% of sufferers will achieve subclinical symptoms. The data is clear that sufferers need more evidence-based treatment options.

Inference-Based CBT (I-CBT) offers an evidence-based alternative to behavioral approaches that does not entail deliberate or distressing exposures.

In this workshop you will learn how dysfunctional reasoning processes develop and maintain OCD and how one’s feared possible self selects for specific obsessional content areas.

Attendees will learn that there are roads to recovery for OCD beyond ERP. Includes 6 CEU's.
