Summary of LCPCM’s Comings and Goings
By Courtenay Culp, LCPC

The Board members of LCPCM have been busy with the continued efforts of providing Supervision Training for LCPC’s in Maryland, providing interesting, relevant and affordable Spring and Fall Conference meetings, keeping LCPC and LGPC members alerted of state legislative issues that may affect them, coordinating Lunch and Learn meetings, and also, keeping members informed about national/federal issues coming from the American Mental Health Association and American Counseling Association which may impact on your counseling practice.

We now have two Supervision programs offered- one in Columbia, Maryland and one in Baltimore, Maryland. Details about the schedule, directions, etc. can be found on the home page of our website.

LCPCM’s Spring Conference will be held at the Sheraton Columbia Hotel in Columbia, Maryland on Friday, April 20, 2012 from 8:30 am – 4 pm.

Our Fall Conference held on Friday, November 11, 2011 at the Sheraton Columbia was a great hit! Our three speakers spoke on three timely topics related to 1) The future of mental health Maryland state budget cuts – a continued crisis 2) Becoming more creative as a counselor during these challenging economic times and, 3) What elements make a successful clinic.

The national hot topic that keeps resurfacing is CACREP in relation to employment with the government/military. Our President wrote a great article about this dilemma which will follow this article.
